Scroll Ring

This ring originated as a proof of concept of sorts, but I have always liked it. It came about when I was taking a stone setting class at UMass Dartmouth; one of the assignments was to create a series of rings that incorporated the stone setting techniques that were covered in class.

This was what I came up with for the tube setting portion: I melted down some of my scrap silver, rolled it into a square rod, and forged it into a "violin scroll" shape that was a reoccurring motif within my work at the time. I then soldered a tube in the middle to space it out and act as a focal point. .
